Liqin Zhang

Zhang Liqin is a professor and master's supervisor at the Department of Journalism and Communication, South China Normal University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Literature from Wuhan University, a Master’s degree in Journalism from Nanjing Normal University, and a PhD in Media Management from Fudan University. She was a visiting scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research focuses on media management, the history of journalism, and intercultural communication.

In her early career, She worked in scientific translation and has nearly a decade of experience in journalism. She has published three books of journalistic nonfiction and has written dozens of in-depth reports for prominent media outlets such as China Youth Daily and Southern Reviews.

Professor Zhang has led several research projects, including the National Social Science Fund’s General Project on The History of Newspaper Management in Modern China (1815–1949), a sub-project of the Major National Social Science Fund Project The History of Journalism in the Republic of China, and two provincial and ministerial-level research projects. She has published three academic monographs: A Comparative Study of the Development Paths of Huzhou Merchants and Ningbo Merchants since Modern Times, Research on Private Newspaper Management 1927-1937, and The Management of Journalism in the Republic of China. She has also published over 20 academic papers in core journals such as Chinese Journal of Journalism & Communication and Journalism Bimonthly.
