College of Educational Information Technology Hosts the First Session of the “Development Salon”

On the afternoon of October 10, 2024, in order to further unite collective strength to advance the College’s reform and development and enhance communication between the College and its faculty members, the College of Educational Information Technology, together with the College Labor Union, organized the first session of the “Development Salon” in Meeting Room 306. This inaugural session focused on the disciplinary development and research advancement of the Department of Journalism and Communication. Participants included Party Secretary Hongquan Zhao, Dean Qingchao Ke, Vice Dean Jing Liu, Labor Union Chair Jianqin Li, and full-time faculty members from the Department of Journalism and Communication.

Secretary Zhao and Dean Ke opened the session by introducing the background and significance of launching the “Development Salon” series, as well as the College’s recent reform directions and key priorities. This was the first salon jointly organized by the newly appointed leadership team and the College Labor Union.

The salon centered on the department’s key development directions, teaching and research initiatives, and practical measures to serve faculty and students. Secretary Zhao emphasized the importance of deepening integration between Journalism and Communication and Educational Technology to achieve complementary strengths and collaborative development. Dean Ke provided an in-depth analysis of the department’s teaching and research progress, highlighting the need to further refine disciplinary strengths and develop distinctive features. He also offered constructive responses to questions raised by faculty members. Chair Li introduced the Labor Union’s ongoing collection of proposals for practical initiatives supporting faculty and student welfare. Participants engaged in active exchanges and in-depth discussions around these themes.

In his concluding remarks, Secretary Zhao fully affirmed the value of the salon, noting that it had laid a solid foundation for the series. He expressed hope that the issues discussed would be effectively addressed and encouraged faculty members to actively participate in future sessions.
